SAETU Foundation provides a list of FAQs to help you understand our organization better and make an informed decision about contributing to SAETU.


General Questions

  • Is SAETU Foundation an international organization?
  • SAETU Foundation is an Indian public charitable trust and all SAETU Foundation supporters are Indian or of Indian origin. All SAETU Foundation funds are deployed in India on projects that benefit under privileged children and women.
  • How does SAETU Foundation raise resources?
  • The resources SAETU Foundation needs to fund various high impact projects are raised through:
    • Individuals
    • Corporates
    • Institutions
  • How are resources used?
  • Through experience SAETU Foundation has learned that to achieve long term life changing impact on our beneficiaries we need to take a holistic approach. This needs work at many levels:
    • Directly working with children and women to meet their education/financial goals
    • Working with parents/families through counselling to gain support for their children’s education
    • Working with school authorities to give additional support to SAETU Foundation kids
    • Community mobilisation to make them aware of their rights and achieve them
    • Seeking support from government bodies in implementing their schemes to benefit these children and women
    • Advocacy with government bodies to influence policy implementation
  • Does SAETU Foundation receive government funding?
  • SAETU Foundation does not receive any funding from government. This allows us to remain independent and unbiased in our evaluation of government schemes and their implementation. SAETU Foundation does enjoy certain tax benefits extended by the government to charitable organizations and donors.
  • How does SAETU Foundation choose its projects?
  • SAETU Foundation selects projects based on principles of transparency and accountability. SAETU Foundation works only with people we can trust.
  • I would like to read your annual report to know more about the projects undertaken and utilisation of resources. How do I access this?
  • You can request our annual reports by sending an email to info@saetufoundation.org.




Questions Related to donation

  • Is there a way I can direct SAETU Foundation to utilise the funds I donate for particular project?
  • SAETU Foundation is currently working in areas of education and women empowerment. You can definitely choose the projects SAETU Foundation has in place in these domains. If you have ideas about initiating new projects in these domains, we would be happy to hear from you and will initiate it based on the feasibility of the project.
  • I would like to know more about the children or women being benefitted by my donation. Will I have access to these individuals?
  • SAETU Foundation believes the beneficiaries should not be made to feel obliged for the help they receive. Every child has a right to education and every woman has a right to live in dignity. We facilitate so they get these rights. Hence SAETU Foundation does not provide information about individuals. However, we encourage you to volunteer for the projects and experience the impact your contributions are making.
  • What percentage of my donation will reach directly to the beneficiaries?
  • SAETU Foundation allocates 85% of your donation to projects and the remaining 15% is used to meet our administrative and support costs. These expenditures are essential to ensure high quality standards in our selection and execution of projects.
  • Why do I have to share my ID details (name, address, phone number and PAN)?
  • As per government regulations it is mandatory for recipient organizations to maintain records of donors’ identity. Donations where these details can not be provided will be treated as Anonymous donations and will be taxable under section 115BBC of the income tax act. To ensure that the entire amount of your contribution is utilised for the cause you believe in, please furnish all the required details.
  • Will I get a tax deduction?
  • Donations made to SAETU Foundation are tax exempt under section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. If you are an Indian taxpayer you can claim this benefit by using the receipt sent to you. Effective from Assessment year 2018-19, you can avail a maximum deduction of Rs. 2000, if the donation is made in cash. This limit is not applicable on donations made online or through cheques. For such donations, 50% of the amount donated will be deducted from your gross total income.
  • I wish to donate cash. How much donation can I give?
  • SAETU Foundation does not encourage cash donations. To keep cash donations to minimum, SAETU Foundation will only accept cash donations up to Rs. 2000.
  • I have donated in cash. Why do I still have to share my ID details (name, address, phone number and PAN)?
  • As per government regulations it is mandatory for recipient organizations to maintain records of donors’ identity. Donations where these details can not be provided will be treated as Anonymous donations and will be taxable under section 115BBC of the income tax act. To ensure that the entire amount of your contribution is utilised for the cause you believe in, please furnish all the required details.
  • I have made a donation but have not received a receipt. What should I do?
    • If you have made an online donation using the payment gateway on SAETU Foundation website (www.saetufoundation.org) you will receive a receipt immediately.
    • If you have done a fund transfer through your bank, please provide your details (name, phone number, address and PAN number) by writing an email to accounts@saetufoundation.org and we will send a receipt by email after the transaction is completed. This will usually be within a week of your transaction. If you do not receive a receipt within the specified time mentioned above, please write to accounts@saetufoundation.org
    • If you have made an offline cheque payment, please provide your details (name, phone number, address and PAN number) by writing an email to accounts@saetufoundation.org. Please allow 20-25 days for offline cheque payments. If you do not receive a receipt within the specified time mentioned above, please write to accounts@saetufoundation.org
    • If you have deposited cash donation (please ensure it is not more than Rs. 2000), please provide your details (name, phone number, address and PAN number) by writing an email to accounts@saetufoundation.org and we will send a receipt by email after the transaction is completed. This will usually be within a week of your transaction. If you do not receive a receipt within the specified time mentioned above, please write to accounts@saetufoundation.org
  • Can I get a refund after making a donation?
  • Once a donation transaction is confirmed and completed, we will not be able to give any refund.
  • I am an Indian Passport holder residing out of India. Can I donate to SAETU Foundation?
  • Yes. Donations from all Non-Resident Indians holding Indian Passport are classified as Indian Funds. SAETU Foundation can accept donations from you.
  • I do not hold an Indian Passport but I am of Indian Origin. Can I donate to SAETU Foundation?
  • No. Donations from Foreign Passport holders are classified as Foreign Currency (FC) Fund. SAETU Foundation does not have FCRA registration and can not accept FC funds. (Our FCRA registration is under process)
  • Is it safe to donate online?
  • Yes, it is absolutely safe to donate online. We use a secured payment gateway. However, we would request you to exercise caution and donate only using your own device and avoid doing it from a public area.
  • What happens with the personal data I provide to make the donation?
  • We enforce a strict data protection policy and will nor give nor sell any information provided to us regarding our donors to third parties. We will not share the data on any platforms where the privacy can be compromised.
  • Can I contribute by giving in-kind donations?
  • Yes. In-kind donations like school materials (note books, exercise books, school bags, uniforms etc.) can be donated to SAETU Foundation provided you are located near our area of work. Please write an email to info@saetufoundation.org and we will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.
